We would like to invite you to attend an informal seminar “Il nostro mondo lo viviamo attraverso le lingue” that Prof. Federico Gobbo will hold for us (in Italian) on Monday 6th of March, in the Broadway room at 11:30.
In the last years we are witnessing the growing importance of using an inclusive language in everyday life as well as in official written communication and speeches; the aim of inclusive language is to make everyone feel included and avoiding any bias such as gender bias.
Inclusive language is an evolving topic, the guidelines on its practical use are constantly under discussion by linguists.
Italian speakers living abroad are less exposed to the new trends in inclusive language for their mother tongue, therefore we have the pleasure to host professor Federico Gobbo from the University of Amsterdam as a speaker, who will present us with the current situation in Italian language and illustrate the practical example of schwa (ǝ) to replace gendered suffixes.
If you prefer, you can also attend the seminar via Teams using this link.
Coffee will be served from 11:00 to 11:30. After the seminar, if you wish you can join us and prof. Gobbo for lunch.
